Coaches,

Thanks so much for the interest in having me come out to your areas and do coaching clinics.

LAXCOACHMIKE COACHING CLINICS
YOUTH, REC, HS COACHES

Here are the topics we cover in the classroom, as well as on the field,

The Laxcoachmike Lacrosse Coaches Clinic,

* The Changing Nature of the Game and Equipment

* The Changing Nature of Kids and Players

* The Changing Nature of Practice Focus and Planning

* Touches, 200 in Hour One of Practice, see how we do it…

* Why Pace of Practice is Critical

* Why Every Drill Must Emulate a Game Scenario

* Offensive and Defensive Schemes

* Riding and Clearing

* Specialty Scenarios

Here is the feedback from a recent clinic in Chicago…

“As you know we are building a program from the ground up. I can’t tell you how great the classroom and field time was for our coaching staff. We are fortunate some of our coaches have high school or college playing experience. We all learned the game in the old school way of doing things, and have been teaching the game in the same fashion. The game has changed, why hadn’t we?

Your approach to this generation of lacrosse player combined with your ability to reiterate information collected from your interviews has changed our entire program’s approach for the better!…..much better!

We have had only one week of practice since the clinic. I have received an email from every coach commenting on what a difference this new approach makes to their practice.

The coaches are re-energized and excited teach these new concepts to our players. I can’t wait to see the progression.

Thank you so much for making the trip north, your students in the Windy City are looking forward to doing this again next year!”

P.S. My ball budget just tripled!

Mike Black

River City Lacrosse

Three hrs in the classroom with the coaches featuring PPT and some video, then a 90 min or two hr practice on the field with 20-25 players or so… this would be for the 20-25 coaches in your network, and yes you may film if you like,

The coaches in your network would also receive access included in the clinic fees, to any one of my four eBooks, the descriptions and contents are described in the products section of the site, and we have sold hundreds of eBooks and videos, and the response has been great as well as humbling,

* Changing Philosophies in Coaching Lacrosse $34 ea, 52 pages

* Coaching Youth Lacrosse $19 ea, 19 pages

* Customized Practice Plans $19 ea, 25 pages

* Specialty Lacrosse Drills for Lacrosse Coaches $19 ea, 43 pages

Fees: Discounted for any Members of our site, Free or Premium Members,
$ 650 plus travel expenses,

I have also provided more of a resume on me, and finally, following the clinic, and if you are happy with the work, I will ask you to supply a brief testimonial that I might use in my marketing materials and/or website,

Let me know your thoughts,

And thanks so much!

In addition, CBS Sportsline.com has referenced him as an expert on the changing nature of today’s players.

Comments on Mike…

“He is passionate about lacrosse, a student of the game, a Former Coach of the Year, he took a four-year program to the State Championship (McIntosh) and frankly is a talented and GREAT lacrosse coach. He can provide practice plans, technical instruction, scouting reports, motivation, and access to the best coaches Division I NCAA in the country. If you want someone who can take your program to the next level then why not consider a coach who has been there and can get your program there? I’m not promoting Mike because he’s my good friend, I’m promoting him because that is what I would do if I was in your situation.”

Pete Cramblet, Lacrosse Hall of Fame

NEW EBOOK!!
Specialty Drills for Lacrosse Practice

We have received a ton of emails asking for help in these specific or specialty areas for lacrosse drills. Many lacrosse coaches have access to a lot of material on lacrosse shooting drills, or offensive plays…

But lacrosse coaches keep asking us, “How do we do meaningful lacrosse drills, or defensive lacrosse drills, with our poles, while our offense is working at the other end?” And watching lazy long passes for 20 minutes just does not seem to cut it…

Or, if you are like me, you recognize the critical nature of face offs, and face off lacrosse drills, yet it is not my area of experience or real expertise…

Or I want to get away from lacrosse line drills, and focus on touches, but I need some new ideas for lacrosse warm up drills…

This eBook is a little different than our other eBook products in that we want to focus on some additional lacrosse drills specifically designed to enhance a team’s skill set in different specific game situations. I think of them as Specialty Drills in that they are not necessarily team drills for the entire team but designed to focus on unique elements that contribute to the ‘whole’ if you will. Some of the drills are from articles on the site, some of the lacrosse drills are from the interviews, and one or two from the earlier eBooks… but the Bookmark Page will make it an easy reference guide for you…

Most of the teams whose coaches are members of our site often are limited to a single coach with meaningful experience or for some possibly a coach and a half, if you know what I mean. So the drills are relatively simple in that they can be run by a single coach who is doing the warm ups, or while one coach is with the offense doing shooting drills, a single coach can work with the poles.

We also received a lot of comments from the Customized Practice Plan eBook asking us to provide the thought or strategy behind the drills, in addition to just the diagrams…. understanding that the college coaches have taught us to directly emulate game scenarios with every drill, as well as explain ‘why’ to the players. So in this eBook, we do a little more explaining as well as diagrams, with creative ideas to add variations to the drills.

One of the many things we have learned in our over 50 hours of interviews with the top NCAA Lacrosse coaches in the country is that they have changed the way they practice — dramatically. We have taken those philosophies and their drills and put them into a five-day template.

We have customized these practices to work for High Schools and Rec Coaches who do not have a coaching staff, or maybe even an assistant coach. All of these practices designed for intermediate skilled teams, feature drills that are applicable for all team members, and can be run with one or two coaches.

This updated 39 page eBook features five specific days of lacrosse practice plans, including a schedule of each day down to the minute, the amount of touches each player will get per drill, and per practice, and a drawing or schematic of each drill to make it easy for you to work into your practices. We feature 26 drills, and over 250 touches per day, per player with this plan.

In addition, even though each of these top coaches has a unique style there are some undeniable common characteristics of their practices.

1. Preparation: You need a plan, at least for the day, or maybe even for the week, or early season, mid-season, day before games, etc.

2. Short Duration of Drills: All of the top coaches suggest that the short attention span of the players is critical, as well as short lines in drills, quick rotations, and as many players engaged as possible. NCAA coaches run their drills from a minimum of seven minutes to a maximum of 12-15 minutes per drill, maximum.

3. All Drills MUST Emulate Game Situations: All of the coaches in our research consistently talk about drills that are snapshots of game scenarios. They might be just seven to fifteen seconds, but realistically prepare the kids for real game situations.

4. Keep it Fun and Competitive: Every coach we have talked to regarding practice has discussed keeping the practices fun as well as competitive and moving. No one likes to stand around and the kids will improve significantly more by doing, rather than watching. I think five or six of the drills are also featured in our eBook, Changing Philosophies in Coaching Lacrosse, but presented here as part of a detailed plan, some are in our article library from Coaches, but again presented as part of a progressive plan in this eBook.
