Coach Bates, the new head lacrosse coach at Princeton. He leaves following his lengthy tenure at Drexel. Where Drexel won two Colonial Athletic Association championships in the last three years, and Bates led his team to the program’s first-ever win over a No. 1-ranked team when the Dragons knocked off Virginia in 2007.

Coming off a great 3 yr run at Drexel including 31 wins in the last three seasons. Coach Bates was also a great player, All Ivy league, played in North-South game and professionally for lacrosse eight seasons in NLL

And you may not know he started as a HS coach at Arch Bishop Ryan in Philadelphia. In the interview he focuses on culture in lacrosse practice, clear expectations and a group mentality, and the new role of a lacrosse coach to meet the players half way for engagement and interest

Coach Bates places a huge priority on pace in lacrosse practice, lacrosse drills and offers us new way of running 3v2 as well as 4v4 he runs full field, and the unique “Y” Drill, a 4V4 lacrosse drill to focus on decisions, the communication tree and sliding… also featured in our article section.
